HOT HOT PINK KRYPTONITE

It's all about super-heroes . . .I went from Bruce Wayne to Clark Kent . . . my new Corto bag is called the Kryptonite . . .

 . .probably because the little clasp is inspired by the mythic mineral substance that turns Clark into, Superman.  Now I wish Santa Claus or Fed-ex would deliver a real-life breathing one. . . 

The fuschia with the coral is great . . . brightens up any dull day . . .and the shape is completely practical.  Super-hero Corto bag :)

Corto x Tom Binns

Tis the season for collabos . . .well, I suppose it is always the season for cool collaborations and this is an ILL collabo between Corto Moltedo and Tom Binns . . utterly surreal - totally COOL . .the first one strictly for collectors . . . Binns has not backed down on his punk couture and Gabriel has definitely not stopped making a statement with that C-Star of his. . .

The second one is more practical - . . .the gold dangling crosses and the chain mail and hardware . . it is so utterly rock and a bit goth, yet, minimalist and elegant at the same time.

Talk about oxymorons or a bunch of adjectives that do not seem to work together but in this case works seamlessly.  

The Susan clutches come in 2 designs and a limited of edition of 5 per design and even though they are made for order ONLY and will be ready next season, Corto has sold 3 out of 5 editions of both designs. . . and at 2800 Euros a pop - that's a rather sound investment indeed.

Spike Jonze's film rendition of Maurice Saudek's Where The Wild Things Are was quite easily the most anticipated animation and remake of a children's story EVER (then again it is a beloved story) and the pre-movie merchandising has been incredible.  I loooooove http://weloveyouso.com a blog where the makers of the film has "shed some light on many of the small influences that have converged to make this massive project a reality."  It's wonderful - inspiring in fact and rather cheeky. . .just like the story.

There was a post on the lovely Olympia le Tan and her "Don't Judge a Book by it's Cover Collection" - that's how I stumbled upon this blog . . .

Hitting on her link opened the doors to another world for me - where so much love and collaboration went into making this movie possible.  

I absolutely cannot wait to watch it - I wonder when the Wild Things will come visit us here in Bankgok . . .very very soon I hope.

Corto Dreamin' - AW '09

"Corto makes me happy . . .Corto makes me happy" a chorus to a song sung by a performance "artist" years back in Venice when we were all together.

This season, the Corto bags that would make me very happy and thus I am dreaming about are: the Kryptonight bag in Panthere Chevre - I have been eyeing the Kryptonight since last season but this colourway has sealed the deal.  . . .

and the Priscilla bag (which has developed a cult following of its own) in Milky Way. . .the sparkles are reminiscent of the stars and are transfixed in a moody black deerskin.   It will be a worthy addition to my sci-fi/space themed Priscillas. . .the Darth Vader and Corto Galaxy.  A theme seems to be evident here - dark, brooding, mysterious, and inter-galactic . . . yet fun.  I love.

I am waiting on my Cassette Clutch (the colour will be a surprise) which will come with Nat Sarasas as he returns to Bangkok after his European tour.  In the mean time, I shall be dreaming about the Panthere Kryptonight bag and the Milky Way Priscilla . . .(check out www.corto.com for where to buy and Corto will be introducing a special private club where you can buy on the internet very soon - will keep you posted)

Or bag me a read . . .not sure what it should be - irrespective of that, I am definitely positively sure that I would like one of Olympia Le Tan's book clutches.  J.D Sallinger's "Catcher in the Rye" as a hard clutch would be divine.  Looooove them so much (and this is from the pictures and Cleo's descriptions).

I adore the way that the bags are displayed with the books in the Galerie Vero Dodat- it reminds us that we should be carrying around books - next thing you know I will be carrying my book clutch and another pocket sized novel with me everywhere.

Olympia is Cleo's older, gorgeous and super-talented sister - not only does she design, she also sings, dj's, consults etc.  Little wonder where little Cleo gets her impeccable taste, wit, smarts, and to-die-for humour from.

Yes, I pranced around with a patent bubble gum orange one during Paris fashion week in March and I rocked up in Rome for bvlgari with a gold lame one . .. Gabe has just dropped the grand news that this baby is going to be available in pink nappa . .. I already have mine on hold, so does Princess Nantaya (n'tui) . . . I absolutely cannot wait to pick mine up this fall . . . did I mention it comes in many many different colours, you can almost have one for everyday of the week. I love that John Lin uses the Lemon one . . .

For those who do not know, Corto Moltedo is the very hot, coveted luxury bags label by Gabrielcorto Moltedo, who's family owned Bottega Veneta before selling it a while back. Gabe has the legacy and definitely the savoir faire when it comes to bags.
